Photo Tips & Tricks

1. Distance from Subject

Ensure your entire subject is in the picture. Not too close and not too far away. We want our Graphic Artists to see every detail and draw you the best custom illustration possible.

2. Angle of Subject

Whatever angle you choose to take your picture at, that is the angle your custom illustration will be. Our Graphic Artists are extremely good, but angle is one thing that cannot be changed. We draw it, as we see it.

3. Picture Background & Foreground

The background will be removed during the illustration process. Avoid having objects in front of your subject. If there is one person or something small in front of the subject, we can remove some of those. However, if larger areas of the subject are blocked, we will not be able to create your custom illustration correctly. What we can’t see, we can’t draw.

4. Avoid Blurry or Low Light Conditions

Take clear pictures and avoid any low light conditions. If the sun is behind the subject this can also create low light conditions on the subject. Ensure the color of your subject looks clear and shows the true color.

Taking A High-Quality Picture

Most smartphones take pictures at 2 MB to 8 MB in size. These are perfect for creating an awesome illustration! So don’t fret! Taking the pic with your phone is perfect! To maintain that high resolution quality, you can do two things: One, upload the picture to our website from the phone it was taken on. Or two, email yourself the picture from the phone it was taken on, and then upload it to our site from a computer. (texting from phone-to-phone, or emailing and choosing to downsize the image, all reduce the quality of the picture).
